What are the best private and public high schools outside of Chicago? I'd like to find a highly ranked school but still be within an hours commute or so of Chicago.

Are Glenbrook north in northbrook and Glenbrook South in Glenview still good public schools?

There's also New Trier on the north shore.

Wasn't Stevenson in Lincolnshire one of the top rated public schools in the country?

Stevenson was ranked number 86 in the country when the only other high school that high in illinois is Lincoln Park HS, but that is in Chicago.

Stevenson has one of the best academic and extacurricular programs in the area. There are literally hundreds of clubs and intramural sports.

Wheaton Academy is my alma madre! It is really a great school. The teachers are great and the academics are amazing. Lots of honors and AP courses are available. I would look into it if I were you.

Also the Naperville and Wheaton public school districts are good as well.

Riverside-Brookfield High School is ranked in the top 5 in Illinois and the top 100 in the nation by Newsweek magazine with a 99% graduation rate. The referendum which was past last spring will allow for extensive renovation and expansion of the school. Metra trains which run through both Riverside and Brookfield take about 20-25 minutes to downtown Chicago. Driving downtown during rush hour would take substantially longer.
