The Glenview Naval Air Station was originally built by the Curtiss Flying Service and intended to be the hub of Chicago's air service. When the field was dedicated as Curtiss Field on 20 October 1929, it was home to the largest hangar built to that time, Hangar One.

Hotdog Island was on the NE corner of Golf Road and Washington Ave in front of the Talisman Village Shopping Center. They were the only competitor that "The Works" had until they lost their lease in 2003.

The Glenview Public library we grew up with on Glenview Rd was originally much smaller until they added an addition in 1968. The three photos below start with it's construction in 1953, completion in 1955, and after the addition in 1968.

A pre-1923 photo looking west on Glenview Rd with the Glenview House on the left and Rugen Stores on the right. According to the Glenview House website, the third floor was destroyed by a fire in 1923.

This is Golfview Plaza on Golf Rd between Harlem and Waukegan. The photo seems to be late 50's to early 60's.

The cornerstone of Glenview Junior High (now Springman Junior High) being laid in 1953. The second photo is the cornerstone today. Somebody with no sense of tradition decided to bury it halfway in concrete. The third photo shows the location of the cornerstone. It's on the left as you go in the main entrance. Click on pics for larger versions.

The Franksville on Golf Rd near Waukegan burned down around January of 1976. These are photos of the firemen fighting the fire. Contact me if you have any photos of this Franksville before the fire. Thanks.
