Kinsgton Mines blues club isn't downtown

Good grief.
You're assuming tourists go to Blues clubs and Comedy clubs.
Chinatown isn't that impressive to someone coming from NYC

Why go to Montrose when you can go to North ave?

The museums are downtown besides the Science.
Unless you're getting into the smaller ones.

Wrigley, Zoo, Conservatory are things one can do outside of DT, yeah.

Is your friend from NYC? To be fair, NYC's Chinatown is not impressive compared to Toronto's

But, depending on one's individual interests it may not be on the same level as some other more historic major cities.

Chicago is quite "corporate"-feeling in some ways and isn't as old as the cities on the East Coast for example.
To be honest, I'd say most parts of Chicago don't feel corporate to me. Unless you're say in the area east of O'Hare, or say like in Schaumburg(northwest suburbs w/IKEA, Woodfield Mall, etc). And I won't deny the area near Wrigley Field(sadly to say) feels pretty corporate, nowadays.

I'd say other metro areas I've been to had more of a corporate feel, than Chicago. Such as Atlanta, and DC. I'm NOT saying everything about Atlanta and DC was bland and corporate, just that these areas didn't seem as interesting to me as Chicago. Although there are some good local places to eat in both cities(The Vortex and also Varsity for Atlanta, Ben's Chili Bowl for DC, and probably more.....).

I didn't find Chicago to be boring at all. Now that I think about it, I don't think I ever found boredom in a city. I lived in Durham NC and many say it's boring but I always found things to do.

I don't believe cities are boring places.

Yeah I guess the Museum Campus is close to downtown. Not quite but close. I guess my range of downtown is a smaller circle.

I'm partial to Montrose because of the bird sanctuary
