No, not ever. Continental was a great airline with a hub and many direct flights. CLE has been a joke ever since. If you like cancellations then budget airline is for you. But I do admit Spirit is worse. But not by much

OK, gotcha. So my instincts were correct. Any future comment from you should be dismissed as hater-ade...

Thanks for revealing yourself.

Right now Spirit is my whipping-boy airline. Spirit is the absolute dregs in terms of punctuality and customer service and comfort.

Spirit is bad and I recently got stranded overnight because of them.

Where does this development put CLE on the map as a legit "hub" airport. Our tiny San Diego airport gets titles like "focus city" which doesn't sound too important.

Even as much as I dislike Spirit, it seems they have enough routes that being their hub would have to be considered somewhat of a big deal, don't know about Frontier.

Look up "fights on planes" and it's almost always these cheaper, discount carriers that are the airlines that this nonsense occurs on. Why? Because those are the kind of people that typically fly on these kinds of airlines. Best to spend more on a better airline and avoid all the nonsense, or at least have better odds of avoiding any nonsense.

I wholeheartedly agree... After flying several discount carriers, our trip last summer on American, one of the last legacy carriers, was like traveling in another world: comfortable, tilt-back seats, no excess charges, and some degree of free food and drink. Amazing how good things the way they used to be seem so good after dealing, for years, with cheapy carriers that took those things away.

I have flown budget airlines a lot, especially Spirit when they had CLE-BOS. Honestly never encountered anything bad. Flight is short, a little over an hour. I found it hard to justify paying so much more money for a slightly more comfortable seat for such a short trip.

Airlines used to do simulator evaluations during the interview process to see if you could fly and handle stressful situations. This no longer exists. An 11,000 hour private jet captain flying Gulfstream all over the world told me this. Delta wouldn't give him the time of day, but they hired his female copilot that was a very weak pilot with very little aviation skill. She had 2500 hours. Never a captain, never had to make any decisions of any kind. She's flying 767's now for Delta. Scary times. He said technical knowledge is no longer important at Delta. The HR interview is where it's at.

I've flown on Delta more times than I can count. After hearing this information first hand since the time of my last post, it appears as if we now have to worry about these airlines hiring unqualified pilots. Great....

I'm assuming Frontier is taking over the old Continental hub concourse?
