Posted last week that we were spending 48(plus or minus)hours in Cleveland, got wonderful input as to what to do, see and where to eat, thanks to all!!!
Here's what we did....
Stayed at the Glidden House on University Circle... beautiful place, pricey....but this whole trip was a gift from #1 son.
Visited:
Little Italy...ate at Mama Santos and Corbos. Fantastic food, thanks for the recommendations!!!!!
Browns Stadium...great location, even greater fan base.
Cleveland downtown is beautiful, historic, easy to get around. Loved it.
The Christmas movie house. Hey, we were tourist! It was fun, really liked the Tremont area.
The Arcade downtown...nice, not as big as it looked on the web.
Drove route 2, thru Clifton, all along the Lake Erie scenic route...if I ever win the lottery...incredible old houses, views.
Made it to Lorain, wifes birthplace. Saw the old St.Joseph hospital and some other sites she vaguely recalled. Looked at a house we'd found on the web several months ago. Looked bigger on the advert.
Drove to Amhurst, saw the old courthouse and downtown apartment where the wife lived as a 4 year old. She walked to the courthouse alone, played on the lawn and the monuments out front all the time..try that today.
Went to the lake several times, beaches...lovely weather.
Observations;
Cleveland is a beautiful historic city. You should be proud. There is nothing like that out west, nothing in Arizona for sure. The traffic was no problem, but we did notice a lack of street signs...try to find Ford off Euclid...no signage, same with Chester off Euclid when heading west.
We did overshoot Ford and end up in east Cleveland on Euclid Friday nite...pretty obvious we were lost...driving a rented Grand Marquis and all...
When we would tell people we were visiting, always wanted to come here...they'd look at us like we were nuts.
Lorain was much nicer than what we thought it'd be...at least the neighborhoods. Clifton is incredible, so is Lakewood.
All the old mills, factories...fascinating.
Downtown Cleveland is beautiful, but sadly empty.
Your gas prices were great! We're still paying 3.40 .
The people were all nice, pleasant, willing to help when asked.
Ate at Petes family restaurant in Lorain, great food, really cheap prices.
Didn't make it to the cafeteria or Brown bag burgers...hit Red Robin instead and a little place just before the airport...can't recall the name.
We truly enjoyed our trip. I'm so grateful for all your input! And even with the depressed economy, we are still seriously considering a move someday.
Thanks again to all!

Its good to see that you enjoyed your trip and NE Ohio.

There is a lot of people that bash the area, and of course we have serious problems, but its mostly a great area and really a hidden gem.

And I have to add, that watching that Browns game last night and first of all seeing them win impressively over the Super Bowl champs made me proud to be a Browns fan for once this season, but also when they'd have those camera shots out on the lake looking in on the stadium and skyline, have to say the city looked pretty impressive.
