Narrative: Crowds gathered at Jockey’s Ridge State Park on the Outer Banks coastal region of North Carolina to fly kites when this photo was taken. But the wind was too strong to keep control of kites, so they switched to making giant bubbles instead. Sand dunes and a maritime forest make Jockey’s Ridge a unique ecosystem, and a popular spot for recreation.
