Movie Theater would be a risky bet, and I hope no public money would go to support it. Existing theaters are sucking wind right now, and I don't want Columbia or Richland County to wager anything on it.
A grocery store would be a good idea, the downtown area doesn't have many options right now.
When is the Food Court thing that was talked about coming around? It was supposed to go into one of the churches right?
How in the world would "public money" support a movie theatre? This is not something that would happen.

I actually think Columbia could support a few more Movie Screens and that would be a great location for it. You have to remember the Regal Forest Acres and it's 7 screens closed down almost 2yrs ago which was the closest non Nickelodeon cinema near downtown and to the Lower Richland area.
Something like https://www.cinergy.com/charlotte. With it being a Full bar and dinner menu it would be different from the other screens in the area and could sustain the volume bc of all of the new apartments getting built in the area.

I agree with all the new life popping up on the North side of Downtown now with Bull Street and North main I can see Friday and Saturday nights looking like Regal in Sandhills where it's just busy. People enjoying themselves. Also I like the idea of The whole Bar and Restaurant life thing inside the theater. That will definitely draw in more people.

Agreed...something like this would be a nice addition to the mix.. I dont believe these cinemas area as large as those large suburban theaters...and having a bar/restaurant can attract a larger customer base..atleast I think it will. Here is a similar model here in Maryland. Seems like they dont take up a whole lot of space and coudl be in a freestanding building or in the ground floor plate of a multi family property which would fit in with Bull Street.
Greenville based coffee shop opening a two story flagship location in the Bull St district. I can’t tell for sure, but it seems like this may be a new free standing building and not part of one of the existing retail developments in West Lawn or The Bennett. But the construction timeline makes me think it has to be in an existing building.

I haven't seen anything announced for that stretch of the main driveway. It's possible it's either freestanding or a stretch of shops, which would match the format of two of their three existing spaces in Greenville.
My question for The Bull Street Complex is when are we getting the Apartments built around the Stadium? My thinkin is the developers are waiting for USC to start construction on their new Medical Campus back there before putting money into developing around the stadium. Also wasn't we supposed to get a Mixed Use Complex with shops and anchor stores in it similar to The Metropolitan in Charlotte? or was that just a rumored idea that got scrapped?

I listened to the Mayors Podcast with Robert Hughes Jr and it sounded like the outfield apartments are up on the air.
