Hey all....

Little background on me...I am 61 and was born in Cbus, family moved to LA when I was 5. Even though growing up in Pac 10-12-Whatever I always stayed true and a crazy OSU fanatic..Last year I went to my first ever game at the Shoe for the Xichigan game, sorry we lost of course.

I am divorced with 2 daughters that I raised myself living in Hawaii. I am currently living in Hawaii but both my daughters are in college. Youngest back east, graduates this year. Older is now in grad school at USC after doing her undergrad back east as well.

So to be honest I am living here in paradise but to be honest I am very bored...not much of a social life here now that my girls are gone.

So I am thinking of selling and moving back to Cbus...looking to buy a house, townhome, condo or whatever in the 400K-700K range. I think if possible I would like to attend as many OSU sporting events as possible. I am a foodie and like to eat out as much as possible.

I still work from home so no need to find a job there just need a high speed internet connection...

So I am open to suggestions on where I should love to live..schools do not matter since mine kids are done.

Thanks

I know people are going to say WINTER and snow...I lived back east for 3 years recently so not a big issue for me. And to be honest there is nothing better than FALL with the changing of the leaves.

It will be a bit of culture shock, to say the least, never minding the change in climate. So the first questions would be do you prefer living in a city neighborhood or a quieter suburb, and what would be your budget for a new home?

As I put above budget is 400-700K range

Cultural shock? So coming from living in LA most my life were everyone is basically rude to a place
were everyone says hello......yeah think I can deal with that.

Think living closer to downtown by the school should be best option?

Oh well in that case, you’d have your pick of where to live. German Village, Victorian Village, Italian Village & the Arena District would all give you central access to downtown, Short North & not too far from the university. If you wanted something further away from the hubbub, but still close enough to campus, Clintonville and Old North Columbus are great options too.

House or condo?

If you like old houses (I don't), Upper Arlington or Bexley. If you like newer subdivisions, stay outside of I-270 and north of I-70. The houses with the best resale value are going to be outside of I-270 from Hilliard through about New Albany.

$700k should buy you something decent.

Check out Westerville for condo choices. Might be a bit far out , being in German village or short north may be too congested .

You’re going to be bummed that it’s a pretty far cry from the diversity of LA or Hawaii.
