Columbus is more “diverse” than Hawaii and LA is a great city but takes an hour drive to get anywhere. There’s plus and minuses wherever you live.

Why would he be bummed? That's a great selling point.

Clintonville is about the same distance from downtown Columbus as Hollywood is from downtown Los Angeles.

Here's each trip using each city's respective transit:

Indeed, there are pluses and minuses everywhere!

Quora

Why do all of my white white rich liberal friends live in exclusively all white neighborhoods yet lecture others on joys of diversity?

Wow, you mean the second largest city in the country has more transit options than a mid-range Midwest capital? Breaking news! And you didn't really disprove the point about driving there. I have to wonder if you are even a transit user.

That's not something you should be proud about.

And aren't you just trying to prove that white people are more racist than everyone else regardless of political views? Was that really your intent?

Also, there's a kind of basic logic failure with the whole idea- If white progressives are as opposed to being around diversity as are white conservatives, why would they support policies that would inherently tend to increase diversity in the places they live, from the national to local levels? They would be directly encouraging interactions with a more diverse population, and inevitably at least some of those people would move into their neighborhoods. If their plan is really to avoid diversity altogether, it's a curious way to go about it.

Finally, could you perhaps explain why cities are becoming less segregated over time, and not maintaining pre-existing levels or becoming more segregated, which would theoretically be the case if everyone- including white people- were still self-selecting into their own racial or other groups? I also like the implication on that quora link that diversity=crime. Most places have become more diverse in the US over the past several decades, yet crime overall has been on a downward trend for at least 40 years. Can your sarcasm provide any answers as to why?

So if someone is a white progressive, but lives in a diverse area, could they then lecture you?

Perry, we’re never gonna agree on sociopolitical issues but I know you’re at least better than citing Quora, where nearly all the questions are fabricated (probably by AI).
