I am relocating from Alabama to Ohio. We have 3 small children (only 1 school age), we have found a rental home in Blacklick (Licking Heights School District) and I am getting a little nervous. Upon doing a little digging on the internet, the crime statistics for Blacklick are very high. On a scale of 1 to 10, the statistics say that Violent Crime is a 7 and Property Crime 6, this is very disturbing to me. It basically says that it is higher than the national average.

Does anyone have any personal experience with Blacklick? When we looked at the rental home is was in a beautiful sub-division and the area seemed really nice.

Can anyone please tell me what's up with these stats?

I've never heard of Blacklick having a lot of crime. Every area is going to have pockets that are more rougher it all depends on what part of Blacklick you are looking at.

When we were looking at different areas upon our first trip to Columbus, we looked at some properties in Blacklick. The properties were priced well and new which was appealling but when we visited some of the stores on Broad - for example the Meijer at Broad and Waggoner - the clientele at area retail stores seemed very seedy. Now, it was just perception of course and it doesn't necessarily mean the area is bad but afterward I did more research on Blacklick and found the same crime statistics you speak of. I also read some threads on here saying something to the sort that to the west of Blacklick is a bad area and some of those elements are sliding east to Blacklick.
