Our most recent cruise on was the Mekong Prestige II back in February. We departed Siem Reap, Cambodia and spent 7 days going downriver to Saigon, Vietnam. I think there were 40 passengers and about 20 crew.
It was an extraordinary trip. The food was excellent, the boat was very nice, and it couldn't have been more different than the standard Caribbean cruise experience. We were truly strangers in a strange land.
For us it was a mega ship just last month. We are going on a small, upscale ship in a couple of weeks, which will be a first for us. We are just about throw with cruising and are getting a great deal. We decided to go out with a bang so are pretty excited

Oh you gotta share this! (or at least, send your sister from another mother a DM.)

After reading this, I was really excited and went over the company's website. The dates and rates shown are for 2017 and 2018, which leaves me nervous. . .
Nevertheless, I AM going to look into this, and thank you for the information.

It's not cheap. Easily the most expensive $/night cruise we've ever done. I made a review of it on TripAdvisor, if you're interested.
A Ukrainian ro-ro ferry, to save middle-eastern truckers going through Russia. Three days and two nights, Odessa to Batumi, about $80, less than 100 passengers, half of them truck drivers. Handful of people who knew broken English.
No TV, but a VCR. No wi-fi, no cell service, lovely to go three days without hearing a cell phone ring-tone, or anybody yelling in one. Buzzed twice by low altitude fully armed Russian jets, when skirting the Crimea coast. Somehow, the time passed, and it didn;t seem boring or tiresome, even though there was zero onboard activities. The staterooms were modern and comfortable.
Best part -- the food. Home-cooked Ukrainian meals served up by ladies in babushkas.
No idea how to compare this with a proper cruise, my previous longest was 40 hours on the Nile in Sudan. The Black sea was a lot nicer.
