Honestly, I think it's the princess fantasy. The US certainly has a class system, but there's no handsome prince or castles or crown jewels.
I suppose.
I mean, I'm a belly dancer and I think a lot of my kind have Arabian Nights/Robin Hood fantasies. Personally, I see the fantasy world as the Kingdom of Oz* or Pern**.
But real life, modern day princess fantasy? Rather see that as dreary as the background for "Roman Holiday".
Let me ask this.....is the country so hyped up on it because the media says we are suppose to be? Is that why we are paying so much attention? (asked by one who is not seeing the media)
*Like my ranch, I rule but with all the ecosystems, so many little "castles" here and there. And, NO!, they are not "Sand Kings".

When Kensington Palace first announced her surgery in January, didn't they say she wouldn't return to work until after March 31st or Easter? Maybe I'm remembering it wrong.
I don't follow the royals but it occurs to me that maybe Kate had a ruptured appendix. That would be abdominal surgery and is quite serious and would take months to fully recover. That's my story and I'm sticking with it!
You could be correct about her appendix or perhaps she had to have a full blown Hysterectomy which takes a few months to recover fully depending on what they found. Kate and William are the future and I think they are wonderful. Kate is beautiful. Let's all be thankful that Meghan will not be future Queen. (laughing)
My sister and I did our DNA and we are 64% UK. There is also a Township in the UK which has the same name as our maiden name. Pretty incredible. You're a good enough person to ask--why do you care? Whatever your heritage is, you're not currently British, so why do you love Kate and William?
She's not even a real princess. She just married into the family.
