Hi,

I hope you can help me with my school project. I need to find some statistics on bicycling safety, specifically regarding accidents do to the fact people were using headphones and could not hear the motor vehicle traffic. I’m not sure where or how to acquire this information. My professor gave me this website in the hopes I can find the answer to my question. Thanks for your help.

MG

Try google and search for bicycle safety. The Federal Transportation Department may have already done a study on this topic. Safest way to ride a bicycle is to stay off public roads.

LOL, the safest way to ride a bicycle is to stay off bicycles, but that aint gonna happen, as well as staying off public roads. I did over 5000 miles on public roads last year, and well over 30,000 over the last several years. But I don't wear headphones. However, one lax moment and BAM. That's it.

You could start here.

Bicycle Helmet Statistics

Contact them to see if they know of headphone statistics.
