That's a shame, newmassphd. Sadly, I'm not surprised though given some of the shenanigans I've seen on the roads around here in recent years. Some people just have no consideration for others--or the rules of the road.

So I was saw a financial press statement today that Dover Downs was in danger of being de-listed
from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) because their 30 day average share price fell below
$1.00.

The article stated that Dover Downs will no longer by desisted from NYSE because their share
prices inched above $1.00.

I had no idea that Dover Downs was publicly traded. That makes the argument about
them arguing to the state about, and as I understand state lawmakers agreeing, to reduce
what they are required to play in taxes (or was it casino receipts).

Certainly the casino revenue has been declining due to increased nearby competition
and the bad economy.

While my opinion is to let the market do what the market does, I appreciate that
others may differ. I feel that let a company fail if they are noncompetitive lest
they learn how to improve their product offering.

What a beautiful time of the year. The daffodils are out in force. My forsythia is in full bloom. Some of the flowering trees are starting to bloom.

Default Lake vacation instead of Ocean?

Yes I am one of the paranoid ones with all of these recent shark attacks. We were set to go to the Outer Banks in August but I canceled it. That being said, I am looking for vacation ideas where I can relax for a week after my summer session ends it nursing school. I am going to need it! Anyway, can anyone recommend any non-ocean vacations?? I am willing to drive up to 5-6 hours to get there. I have never went anywhere other than the Ocean so I have no clue.

Lake George NY is beautiful but I am not sure of the drive time, since it would depend upon where you live.

I have a friend who goes to Deep Creek Lake in Maryland for several weeks every year. While she likes the Jersey shore, she really enjoys her time on the lake. I think it is about a 4 hour drive from Delaware, but I am not absolutely certain of that since she usually visits friends in West Virginia before she arrives at the lake. Anyway, there are lots of rentals and they appear to be reasonably priced.

Sharks live in the ocean. Always have and always will. The issue in OBX is related to a fairly significant temperature anomaly. It isn't really affecting DE Beaches in any way.

Yes I totally agree with you, we are swimming in their home.... I get it! I'm not trying to debate sharks in any way whatsover, I just choose not to swim with them this particular year because of this "temperature anomoly" that is stirring up these sharks. I just want a non-ocean vacation this year...... period. I grew up at the DE beaches and I love it, I have actually been to the DE beaches twice this year but just want to do something different with my long vacation and not go to OUTER Banks! My problem was never with DE beaches.

Thank you SMXGirl and nuts2uiam for the lake suggestions, I will research those options.

Maybe the Finger Lakes in New York. I know a couple who spend a long weekend there every September. They'd always gone to the beach before.
