[quote=Charley;10364389]Well, I've given this some thought and I cannot imagine myself NOT being a Met fan, as I've been since April 1962.

Hey Charley, What a game that was last night. You must be thrilled about the Mets win against the Phillies!!!!!
I was thinkin' of you as we watched our team get defeated. anxious to see what happens tonight. We'll be watching.

I'm from NJ but I've never heard of Windmill, where is that? Have you ever been to Rutt's Hut in Clifton?

Anyway, the Dover Dog Grille (in Dover and Milford) is pretty good, they have plain hot dogs and special ones too. The Dog House in New Castle is supposed to be excellent, but sadly, we have never been there. And Johnnie's Dog House in Wilmington is great, I highly recommend the Texas Tommy, it reminds me of Whistle Pig in Niagara Falls.

Default Speaking of Roesville....

...I was just out to Delaware last week doing one thing after another and found time to run down there Thursday to see how things are progressing. I was on the way to the outlet mall at Rehoboth and decided to go take a quick look at Roesville. I counted 8 or 9 houses (not counting the completed models). The outside of the new Palmer was up, but I saw only boards through the open door and windows. I didn't have an appointment set up with Kathy to tour it, so unfortunately can't give you any more details. Still no ground breaking that I can tell of a clubhouse, but I know they will have one someday. Not thinking about making a report here, I didn't spend much time, so I can't say how many houses looked lived in. The landscaping on the finished homes did look very nice, tho.

Although the development seems far away from Dover and its shopping, it is fairly close to Hwy 1. I think it took me about 5 minutes to drive to Frederica and another couple minutes to get to the highway. From there, it's probably only 20-25 minutes to the base and another 10 or so to Target and Safeway, depending on traffic. I expect that shopping in Millford is not that far away, either.

BTW, I also found a really fine new campground just north of Rehoboth Beach, called Cedar Creek. It's a Good Sam club and very clean, brand new, beautiful pool, great facilities.

(I'm sure glad Charlie started this thread back up again. I tend to ramble, and the forum police would have had to rein me back in otherwise. )

I enjoyed my visit with my mom, kids/grandkids and dinner with Eliza and her sweet hubby the other night. But, I hafta tell ya, it sure was hot and humid. I was glad to get back home to 68 degrees in Michigan.

Windmill is a chain. There are two in Long Branch on the beach. I think there are about 6 in Monmouth/Ocean County. I want to find a good hot dog place in De. now though.

Default Where did the birds go?

Before we left on vacation, we had so many finches and other birds at our feeder that we had to fill it 3 X's a week. We filled it b4 we left 10 days ago and it is still 2/3 full. Did they all fly the coup? Haven't seen one bird at all today. It seems early for birds to be migrating from DE as it is still quite warm here.

Default Birds

I too, was wondering what happened to the birds. I have not see finches for months and a few months ago they were loaded on the feeder. They seem to have disappeared and I can't remember them ever doing that in the past. Where are you, you pretty little birdies?

I wonder if they know something we don't. Like maybe predicting an early cold winter. Just seems odd that two weeks ago they were at the feeder all day and now, nothing.

Default Goldfinches

Probably some of them are vacationing in Michigan. My feeder this afternoon had two or three of them gorging on sunflower seeds. I know they were eating sunflower seeds cuz my feeder is about a foot away from my window. The greedy little guys must have been stocking up for a long flight as they stuck around for a couple hours, sweeping away the other seeds with their beaks looking for the sunflower kernels.
