So I went to the dentist yesterday for a routine cleaning and was told I have a cavity. They didn't actually fill the cavity at the appointment. Even so, since the appointment, I have had a yucky taste in my mouth that is actually kind of making me feel sick. I didn't have the taste prior to the appointment. My appointment is more than a week away. Not sure if I can wait that long given the taste. What would you recommend doing in such a situation?

Wait for others here to tell you to never go to the dentist and drink oil.

When was your last professional cleaning? Not to sound like a jerk, but maybe you're not used to having a clean mouth? Yesterday I had a patient freak out because she thought we were blasting off parts of her teeth with our ultrasonic scaler. Nope, those were huge pieces of tarter, Ma'am. Those weird things you now feel with your tongue are teeth that were buried underneath all that gunk.

Swish your mouth with hydrogen peroxide (3%) that you can get at the store/pharmacy. Don't swallow it.

Can be an abscess. Sometimes they are painless. Leaky crown is also a possibility.
