I was diagnosed with an Ameloblastoma in my lower right jaw. Had it removed during an in-hospital surgery on November 13th, during which they also removed two molars because they were covering the tumor.

Ended up back in the ER with an Abscess on the 15th. Stayed overnight before being released the following day.

Everything has seemed fine since outside of the pain and swelling still be present (having gone down though as the swelling really went into overdrive before it turned out I had an abscess).

The doctors haven't told me yet regarding how long it will be before I can eat regular foods. I'm hoping someone who has either been through the experience or has the knowledge would be able to provide me with a timeframe.

I underwent surgery for an Ameloblastoma in my upper jaw, which included the removal of two molars. I struggled to eat and drink due to soreness and swelling but received support from my loved ones and healthcare providers. I had to start with liquid or soft foods for at least a week and then gradually introduce solid foods in small portions and chew on the opposite side of my mouth.

So about how long (if you remember) before you were back eating normal foods?

That's something your doctors should have told you before you had the surgery, and in written instructions after the surgery. It's also something you should ask your doctor. Some patients with ameloblastoma have to get their jaws wired shut, a tracheostomy, and a feeding tube in their stomach during the recovery process, which takes a couple of weeks minimum. Obviously yours wasn't as severe. The only people who can answer your question in a way that would ACTUALLY answer your question - is your doctor.
