I can get behind that trend! When I sweat, plastic frames slide down my nose. I can't get them tight enough.

lol It seems like the only people I see that wear wire frame glasses these days are far older or more conservative, kind of like seeing people 10-15 years ago that were still wearing aviator style glasses, although you "occasionally" still see that a bit.

No, but you got it about one-third right. Living in an area with diverse views is: an area where some agree with you most of the time, where some disagree with you most of the time, where some agree and disagree with you on an approx equal number of issues (about 50/50). That is what I would describe as "ideally" diverse. Or if this mix is not found, they at least disagree in a mutually respectful way (the spirit of agree to disagree rather than my way or the highway). It does not happen often.

As to your last sentence, there can be intolerant people on both the right and the left. I am left of center, but would also disagree with a liberal that says only conservatives can be intolerant.

I read the article because it provided rational explanations and facts rather than the silly name calling ("douchebag"). So you did something right in your post. BTW, wasn't Fred Grandy on that show "The Love Boat"? LOL.

No Iowa political trivia contest would be complete without asking "Who did Terry Branstad arrest when he was a military officer at Arlington National Cemetery during a war protest?"

The guy has had such amazing success in Iowa and that speaks for itself. No need to sully it with the name calling. (BTW, I am one left of center person that has also criticized liberals for name calling).Just be classy and praise Branstad. He himself would probably scold you for it if he read it.

kinda scary Dport7674 ^^^, I think wire rim glasses are so low profile, you can hardly notice them, but they do give an intelligent look to some. I haven't ever had to wear glasses for anything other than reading news print, but the wire ones look more comfortable to me, but perhaps too fragile ?

Anyway, I'm getting excited for Branstad, if he wins one more election he will truly become the longest serving governor in US history, beating out Governor George Clinton of New York, whom served 21 years, leaving office in 1804, shortly before Robert Ray was born.

Just thinking I should provide something for the liberal minded people in this thread that you might find more pleasing to the eye than Mr. Branstad, here's a few pictures of Tom Vilsack and Chet Culver to remind you of the good old days. Hope you guys enjoy them.
