I wonder what % Japanese some of the neighborhoods are. Do all of the Novi Japanese go to that market only or do some go to other markets?

I read that the schools have a bunch of Japanese too. Do you know if the academics at Novi High attract a lot of Japanese families?

Guernsey Dairy ice cream is wonderful, too. So is sitting outside on a boulder, under the giant tree, on a summer evening.

There are several Japanese markets in Novi, but I belive One World is the largest. There are some great Japanese restaurants in town as well, including one on 10 Mile and Novi that I badly want to try but am too intimidated to go to as the menu is all in Japanese.

Yes, there are quite a few Japanese students in the Novi school system. I'm not sure of the exact percentage of Japanese families, but it is one of the largest concentration of Japanese families in the country.

They don't have an English menu? I'd be shocked if they didn't considering they know many White Americans and Americans of other ethnic groups love Japanese food!

I think they do. I think I would just feel more out of place than anything. From reading the reviews online it caters exclusively to Japanese folks seeking authentic food.

In my hometown, when people want ethnic food they see it as a selling point when it caters to members of the ethnic group instead of the average American. I would imagine they would do whatever it takes to make the non-Japanese feel at home.

So, besides sushi, what else do you miss about Michigan?

Safety, I believe. In Michigan, as long as you don't go to downtown Detroit, you are fine. In Houston, even in a good neighborhood, you need to be more careful. Bad and good areas are mixed together. In the midtown, you can see crappy apartments like jail next to a million dollar home.
Houston has a Chinatown which is a huge plus. There are so many Chinese restaurants. But you need to be extra careful when you walk there because almost everyday people got robbed.

Well, I guess you just can't have it all unless you can afford those high-rise luxury condo in midtown or uptown Houston. With that, you can enjoy both city life and safety.

I think if u go to the Houston suburbs similar to Troy or Novi you can have the same level of safety.

I'm sure you don't miss the -10F weather and snow!
