Advertisements

I watch a lot on YouTube. Usually streaming to my TV from either a Roku or a Firestick. It is my go to streaming service when I have nothing else I want to watch and especially when I want to learn about something with the help of video. However ads were getting more and more intrusive. Sure, not as bad as ads on network programs but still irritating. So I signed up for YouTube Premium. Not sure I will keep it after the 3 month trial (I really can't justify another $11 a month) but I love the loss of separate ads. BUT now they are sneaking in ads within the program so there is no way to block them. Not at all happy about this!

I’m on YT Premium ... I’ve seen no ads being snuck in anywhere.

Watch this as an example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=As8LV6A7Pps
A good several minutes towards the end of the stream are an ad for Curiosity Stream (I believe that was it). As with most ads I did not pay attention and just fast forwarded past it......

That's not Youtube sneaking in ads. That's the content creator choosing to include that as part of their content.

Understood. But I don't have to like it.

Well, just know that without it, these creators may not be able to produce the same level of content that you're enjoying. At least you're able to FF through it.

I find them much worse than commercial TV. Shows are created with ad breaks. Anybody who had not been demonitized breaking in every 3 minutes and random break ins on musical performances aghhgg

They are worse than commercial TV. They break in right in the middle of someone talking, or right in the middle of a sentence often times.

YouTube has a paid version that claims no ads..but the content creators would still do their ads, right? Occasionally I try to watch an ad all the way through to support some of my favorite creators, especially the 3xercuse instructors.

I noticed this, too. It's not only Youtube, either. I'm noticing this is several streaming services. At least w/youtube, when they're at the beginning you can usually skip the ad after a few seconds.

One of the biggest problems with the increased ads in streaming is that they aren't timed well, like for broadcast tv. In broadcast tv, an ad is usually time at a moment in the program where there's a pause, a climax, or something. In Youtube, the ad just abruptly cuts in without warning and at inopportune moments, maybe in the middle of a sentence, even. That's so irritating.

If the ads are too irritating, I watch another streaming service.
