Not necessarily as cold as I have experienced around Fairbanks in the past, such as -65 or so, but it's almost mid March and the temperatures at night still drop to -20 and colder depending on location. The forecast for this week, and maybe the next, is for night temperatures of -20 to -30

March and late September are my favorite times of the year for taking photos of the Auroras, but this year I haven't been out there very much

And they will be out in force with all the snow we have around here. Before it melts I have to shovel a trench all around the house to move the snow away from the foundation. The dirt around the foundation is graded away from it, but we have a bunch of snow on the ground.

I don't mind the cold. I don't mind the snow. It's this ridiculous wind we get here in the MatSu Valley...

It was -36 by Eielson AFB this morning, and about -24 by the UAF thermometer at Alumni Drive.

It was -29 below at my house this morning. WtF it's mid march? I'm moving next winter to some place warm and sunny .
