Some Fargo meteorologists are starting to compare this winter to that of '96-97. Valid comparison or not??

I keep hearing about the winter of 96-97 and it sounds like it was really rough. We just moved here last Dec so this is our first rough weather.

Not there yet....96-97 had more widespread snow and high winds compared to the storms so far.

Flooding wise for the spring....we are looking worse off for sure. I suspect we may well top 2009 levels...

So, you're sayin' we should start loading Fargo and Grand Forks into boxcars and takin' the cities inland about now, rather than wait for spring?

Here in the SoCal desert we've had all of 4 inches of rain (including 6" of snow) this past month, that's more precip than the previous 6 or 7 years combined. So I can imagine what it's like where it rains and snows for real.
