If we were 30 and buying our first home, and wanted to hang for years, then CC would be a very smart choice ... but that’s not the situation.

We have a pickup truck (2015 4x4 Toyota Tundra) and an RV (2015 Winnebago class A) and yet we would be excluded from some neighborhoods because we don’t want to sell our truck, and would need to pay $200 a month for secure RV storage.

As I said, we aren’t ruling our CC, it I just feel it might be too young of an area (as far as growth) for us.
I like many neighborhoods in North Fort Myers, especially the area near the river from Riverbend Country Club and East. However I still prefer CC and prefer areas in CC nearer to Downtown Fort Myers. CC has more of everything than NFM. But for you, since you have an RV, I think CC is out of the question. As a side note, the older posts you read are from a time when CC was the ground zero for the mortgage crisis. Those days are long gone and unlikely to repeat. About 60% of homes bought in recent year were bought with no mortgage so foreclosures are less likely.

I moved here two years ago and I hate it. The traffic is horrible and people drive like idiots. The crime rate is out of control. The people who take statistics say that 1/2 million more people are expected to move to this area within the next 5 years. We already are hosts to a million people during high season. The area can not handle the traffic now and planning is way behind the eight ball. I am moving away as soon as my home sells. The ONLY thing good about this area is the weather. People are rude and visitors are obnoxious. I'm out-a-here. The last week this area is in a state of emergency due to red tide and very thick green and blue algae that has killed fish, birds, and other precious wildlife. So far nothing has been done. People can't breath, it's toxic to all living creatures. What a **** hole.

and another thing, food is so expensive here because of the tourists, it's crazy. I live alone and am very frugal and it still costs me about 800 to 1000 dollars for groceries per month.

It's not that expensive. There is no way food costs you $250 a week ($35 a day) unless you are buying premade sushi at Publix and other premade food. I spend less than $200 a month on food.

You must be shopping at Publix to spend that much a month.

You would not have to sell your pick-up truck. Cape Coral eliminated the "No pick-up truck rule" many years ago. You are getting very outdated info.

Publix is very very expensive. Publix is only for the well-heeled.

You spend $200 a month on food? I assume not at Publix.
