Not really, I have seen families suffer at the hands of treacherous companies in mass lay offs. It set them back years because usually in a mass lay off unless you have the money to weather SEVERAL YEARS the local market will be flooded a LONG time. Due to the monopolization of america there is usually few places to jump to in a timely manner without having to move thousands of miles away (unless your a low end service worker in which case you will suffer due to the wages).

And even the families that were not laid off now live in fear and are terrified to loose their jobs because they know what it means. Massive moves, sell off of property, pulling kids out of school, leaving extended family and support networks behind etc etc.
