This is an exercise in relative value. All of us have things that cost a lot (for us) that we value, but we also have a few items that are incredibly low cost that do an outsized job in making our lives better. An example might be a little LED keychain flashlight that keeps us from tripping in the dark or helps in finding lost items in dark spots.

What do you have that cost a dollar or less that you find valuable beyond the purchase price? NO flea market finds of wildly more expensive things, NO items that are "add-ons" to more expensive items. Just simple things that cost little and bring joy.

If you can't think of a dollar item, try for something under $5 (but note it as such).

I can think of a lot of things.

Ibotta app costs me nothing and I make a few hundred bucks a year using it.
Pandora $0 and I get all the music I want.
Billpay $0 and I pay all my bills on time without postage or the cost of checks.
If I need paper checks, Fidelity gives them to me for free.
My Fidelity debit card allows me to use ATMs worldwide without a service charge.
I can make deposits through my phone without a charge.
Free notary at my bank.

If I think about it, I am sure there are more.

I've got this plastic U-shaped jar opener that I couldn't live without. I'm pretty sure I paid less than a dollar for it, but I've had it for 15 years, so don't really remember what I paid.

I've also got a couple of silicon spatulas that weren't much more than a dollar and I use them daily.

$3 thrift store bike helmet. I did not wear helmets for decades, but now my hair is thinning. Since I need something on my head outside, it might as well be a helmet.

Dollar Tree — It’s Awesome. A laundry spray and cleaner. Works great, cheap.

Rare find in $1 store
Umbrella yep a folding (telescoping) Umbrella that can easily fit in pocket or purse. Bought 12. 3 years ago, and 4-5 remain.

$1 reading glasses. If you buy the 4.0 power ones and go camping, you can start a fire with them

I love those heavy duty storage bags from the Dollar Tree. They're XXL, super thick and we use them for everything including holding our dirty laundry when we travel.

I think they stopped selling them though.

Dollar Tree - Doggy poop bags. $1. Much cheaper than pet stores.

Reynolds pop-up aluminum foil squares.
