Hello there!

Just returned from a visit and loved the community. Considering Reynolds for retirement and would love to hear more from people who call/called it home. This will be full-time for us, moving from a Chicago suburb. No family in the SE, but hoping our children will visit us there with easy and inexpensive flights from StL and LGA.

Thoughts?

It's gorgeous. You can't go wrong there.
It's also an easy drive to some lovely communities like Madison, Greensboro, Social Circle and Washington.

How long have they lived there? Do you and your kids, if any, enjoy visiting them there?

They lived there for about 6 or 7 years until my father passed. Yes, my siblings and I, as well as our children, loved visiting there. Dad had a boat on the lake which was a ton of fun. Good restaurants are there. The Ritz Carlton Lodge is there, too.

Anything they (or you) didn't like about it?

Not a thing. I would move there in a heartbeat if my wife was not a beach person.

It’s unpleasantly hot in Georgia for at least eight months of the year and the lake often looks like red mud after a series of heavy rains.

We live outside of Athens and love the region, but we aren’t gated community people.

We are checking out retirement areas in Georgia; we are originally from Connecticut (spent one year on the Gulf Coast of FL - summer too long and unbearable). We toured Reynolds on Lake Oconee - stunning; but, do you know that you have to plunk down $25,000 just to get into the community -- it buys you nothing but the privilege to live there.

If you can get over that, then it could work for you. We were concerned that if for some reason we had to leave in a year or two, that money is forfeited!
