The clear cutting in GA looks awful. I get that they needed to trim 50 or so from the shoulder, of course. But some medians are literally 500 feet or more wide. Especially on 16. Dumber still, they got backlash as they rightly deserved and went back and planted trees although in a few select areas. They could've just left trees where the median is wide enough. The trees helped to block sun getting in your eyes in evening or morning. Plus what is the point of clearcutting the circular areas on exit rams. The ones in southeast GA on 95 for example are huge, a thousand feet across. traffic is going 25 mph so no need to trim except maybe within 50 ft of the curb. I think I recall reading a while ago, a billboard company with lobbying ties to the governor supporting it, as well as the timber company doing the clearing getting to keep the timber proceeds who also donated to the governor. :/
