Riverfront Place will set the tone for all future developments. Developers see how they have to come or don’t show up in the city at all. I was able to take some screenshots from the video. It’s looking good indeed!

I know Augusta is the city folks here love to hate on, but no way does it rank 10th. I don't see any justification for it not being ranked close to Columbus and Macon IMO.

And Rome has a better downtown than several cities on this list. It ranks above Woodstock for sure.

Agree with this. I think Columbus' downtown is slightly better than Augusta's but not by much and Rome should definitely be on anyone's top 10 list.

Agree with cdw and Mutiny about downtown Augusta. Also the other posters who wrote:

3. Athens

The three fall-line cities are larger, but Athens' 33,000-student campus, right smack at its downtown door (the Arch, in fact), gives it a permanent advantage re vibrancy and amenities. I think Athens will be third in GA for a very long time.

Is Athens still including a high-rise hotel in their Classic center project?

That’s very interesting as I’ve never been to Athens. How does it compare in size to Greenville, SC?
