Thanks for the info ^_^, I'm not set on Winston-Salem, thats simply the area I am most familiar with at the moment. I am planning several week long trips in the course of the next six months before I make my final decision. On an added note I adore the beach but I need at least a medium sized city close by. I've lived in a small town with a population of 18k my entire life and I have had quite enough of that.

I would suggest Chapel Hill, in Orange County, which is home to the UNC Health Care system; or Durham, aka "The City of Medicine", home to the Duke University School of Medicine.

FYI, Chapel Hill is lovingly referred to as "Little California" here in NC, because it is so liberal.

Yeah if you're a nurse, then I'd definitely say keep your sights on Durham, Chapel Hill and Raleigh. Tons of hospitals, clinics and so forth. You'll have more job options than you'd know what to do with.
