I've had both AT&T and Verizon and they have both generally worked great everywhere. I have not heard anyone really complain about their cell service except inside particular buildings. I worked in one office building where Verizon had great service and I heard others did not (there was a rumor that they had a Verizon repeater inside the building, I don't know for sure.) And now I work inside a factory that has great AT&T service but Verizon goes out in particular areas of the building. So it's hard to make a general recommendation for one over the other without knowing specifically where you'll be.
