It's the best for sports, IMO. You get everything you could possibly want on it.
Unless I am mistaken, my issue with YouTube TV is you can't tell what channel you are watching; you just select programs by title rather than the channel number or call letters. You can't punch 4 or 7 or 21 on your remote for direct access to WYFF, WSPA or WHNS. You just scroll down for program titles and then it tunes the local channel feed from the program you choose to watch. And no regional channels from Charlotte, Atlanta, or Columbia unless you have an antenna. And I believe YouTube may charge a local channel fee built into the $73 a month subscription price to carry your local channels which are free over the air with an antenna, unless they allow you to opt out of local station access. I personally prefer local antenna, Roku, and a la carte streaming selection from Sling. But Clark Howard does seem to endorse YouTube TV as a good value. But a good, reliable attic or outside antenna is a good back up plan for technical problems and contract disputes. And in Spartanburg County you can pull in most of the major Charlotte channels as well, and into parts of Greenville County.

If you use the “LIVE” menu option and scroll down there is a grid similar to the Spectrum guide that lists the network and logo on the left. You can modify the order by going online and dragging the channels to the desired order or remove channels you don’t watch, such as the Spanish language channels. I use Roku and there’s a back button on the remote it will take you back to the menu where you can see the program and episode name but you do have to click back on the prior image resume or start over from the beginning. There are a few things I don’t like about You Tube TV, but even with adding the other streaming options like Netflix and Hulu, it’s still less than what I was paying for Spectrum. Direct TV is not an option for me and You Tube TV is pretty simple to navigate and record.

If you do not subscribe to ESPN, and want to watch the Carolina Panthers monday night game, there is an over the air antenna option in certain areas. The ESPN telecast will be simulcast on WAXN-TV64 from Charlotte, the sister station of WSOC Channel 9, which will instead carry the ABC NFL game. For the past 2 years, this WAXN signal has been broadcast via channel share with WBTV on their RF23 broadcast signal, which has a very strong signal in Spartanburg and parts of Greenville County. If your antenna receives RF channel 23, it will tune in WBTV-3 as well as WAXN-TV64.
