I'm looking for good spots in VA Beach for breakfasts (greasy spoon/diner) and dinner with the fam... including a college kid and a hungry 12 year old. Rather avoid the $50/each seafood buffets. Thanks!

Mary's Kitchen, Big Sam's and Nick's are three great options for breakfast and all just a few blocks from the Oceanfront. Waterman's is always a top choice for dinner. Rudee's is another.

Not near the oceanfront, but SUPER good quality breakfast food. I LOVE their Eggs Benedict and fresh squeezed orange juice.

Mary's kitchen! Probably the best bet $ wise at the beach. Really good food in an old fashion diner with a history! Last time we took an "auntie" for breakfast she told us stories about often eating there as a kid over 50 years ago!

I am a huge fan of Big Sams at Rudees inlet. They serve breakfast everyday with "breakfast happy hour" drink options lol!

Rudees is great too, though they only serve Sunday brunch but also with breakfast happy hour! Lunch and dinner offer a lot of choices both in food and beer lol.

Watermens is great anytime, especially if you have a large group. For breakfast they only do brunch on Sundays but they offer a large menu.

No Frill Grill is a locals favorite for lunch. They serve just about everything and it's a fun place to eat in. I think the wait is too long for dinner and they don't take reservations.

Not as cheap but so much fun is Orions rooftop. The service is top notch and the food is amazing. They will even prepare non menu items for special requests. The views are absolutely beautiful. You can't be afraid of heights because it is on the roof. I've seen how the valet drive there so park your car in the garage yourself, the restaurant validates your parking ticket.

You are going to want to call whatever restaurant you choose for any sit down meal to see if you need a reservation. Also, while I can't recommend any particular one, there are plenty of those "pancake house" type places on the strip that you could just walk to from any hotel.

Do you mean Taste Unlimited? One of my favorites! We usually do pre order take away. Sometimes for large groups we do a "lunch box" pick up to eat while on the beach or bay or wherever, with visiting family or friends.

I have never been to Citrus. Cool name tho. I looked them up and they seem to have 2 locations with the week split between the two. Wonder why? They would probably be more profitable having just one location open for the full week, instead of splitting open hours between the two locations. I, as most everyone I know, is not only too busy to have to check what location is actually open, but I would also wonder about the food quality and safety because of the amount of time each location is closed.

It is my understanding that Citrus had to reduce days being open due to number of employees willing to work during the pandemic. They also use the days they are closed to "cleaning and sanitizing". Prior to Covid and now when open, both Citrus locations are full of clients. Great food and service!!

I don't want to say anything bad about them, because they look like a type of place I would like but, again, I don't like that they split their days between two restaurants. Why do they do that? We are back to 100% pre covid tourism.

My concern is about the food being "stored" for those few days at each location. I looked up the last inspection and could only find the reports for pre covid. I am all for supporting local business's but not if I can't verify how safe they are to actually eat at. Maybe I missed something but I spent a good 10 minutes looking. Reason why I, my family and friends have never eaten there. It's up to the owners to make that info easy to find because most tourist here won't dig as deep as I did.
