I have tried a number of dandruff shampoos, but the flakes keep coming back. Has anyone had any luck with any particular brand or ingredient?
The below comparison table includes a range of ingredients found in the popular dandruff shampoos out there, but I have tried at least half of these with no long-term lasting results.
Have you tried Head and Shoulders shampoo. It is still around, after many many years. It must work, but you have to use it all the time, or the flakes will come back.
Neutrogena T/gel shampoo is the best shampoo that I’ve used for dandruff. I use the original formula. I’ve been using it for well over 20 years and don’t have an issue with dandruff or itching on my scalp, unless I stop using it for several days; about 4-5 days without using it and my scalp begins to itch. I take my shampoo with me when I travel.
I’ve tried many different dandruff shampoos over the years when I was younger, and none of them worked like this one.
Try using any shampoo containing coal tar. If that doesn’t work, get a prescription shampoo from a dermatologist.
DH had a recurring rash on his chest (splotches). The doctors kept treating it as a fungal infection, like ringworm or jock itch. The salve worked, but then it came right back. Finally, he asked the dermatologist and she said it was the same condition as dandruff (which he did not have on his head).
Head & shoulders for me has worked wonders for the past 20+ years. Never a problem.
If you're still having a dandruff problem after using a dandruff shampoo then you have a skin/health problem where you need to see a dermatologist. As we age both body/health changes too.
