No offense but I don't find a receeding hairline attractive at all. A comb-over and toupes are the worst possible options. I say shave it, or just keep it neatly cut. My poor brother started balding at age 16 (runs on my dad's side of the family)...he keeps his head completely shaved. It looks really good, very modern.
However, I find grey hair on a man very attractive. I saw a guy last summer, silver hair, dark sunglasses, driving a BMW convertible...SO HOT!!! In my mind he's mature, sophisticated, financially secure, and knows how to have fun.
Full head of hair ... sexy!
Thinning ... sexy!
Balding ... sexy!
Bald ... sexy!
Comb over ... sorry guys not so sexy! Please just give it up. Go bald and be sexy!
I started losing my hair in my 20's. It may have been the result of a couple botched perms during HS (that's a completely different story ). Anyway, it bothered me at first because I was younger. Now, I could care less because I personally don't care what anyone thinks about me. If you like me, fine. If you don't, that's fine too.
I have professional grade clippers that I use to keep it close cropped, ie shaved. I actually feel like a hippie today because it's been a few days and my hair is almost an 1/8 inch long.
In 9th grade my hair was longer than most of the girls (yes I'm a guy). Long blond and nearly to my behind. When I was a senior...first day of school, somebody pinched my butt. I spin around and here's this guy with a very shocked look on his face (I think it was my mustache that freaked him). Apparently he thought I was a girl. I cut my hair back to shoulder length, joined the Army 2 years later and pretty much shaved my head down in Texas. It has never grown back past my shoulders. Now it's thinning pretty good on top. It bothers me more that I can't get it to grow past my shoulders than the fact it is thinning. From were I'm standing I can't see it, so I really don't think about going bald. But I do wear a hat all the time...or a doo rag. I feel naked without something on my head.

I got a good laugh out of the butt pinching, especially the visual of the mustache making an impact on the poor guy who pinched you!!!
I've had my hair long, not as long as you've described, but down to my shoulders and even through most of 2006 brushing my nape. But I can't stand how it feels so dirty so quickly when it's longer.
I feel like unless I wash it every day it's not clean and it bothers me. When my hair is very short, I won't wash it but maybe once a week and it feels just fine. Plus, I can wake up and jump into clothes really quickly, splash water on my face, run an electric over emerging whiskers and be on my way in 20 minutes. With longer hair it takes styling and drying and fussing and I get annoyed!
I think that hair (and lack of it) is sort of the male equivalent to women's obsession with weight (well, that and penis size but I won't go there). Men aren't nearly as fixated with a women's weight as she is and no matter how much they tell her she looks fine, many will forever be self-conscious and will beat themselves up over a few extra pounds that their man is not even noticing. Similarly, a man will inspect his head wondering if that much of his temples were visible one year ago as his wife looks at him like he is crazy. Both genders have their vain quirks.
I'll admit, I don't want to go bald and will probably be one of those losers trying every sort of product known to man to get it back if/when I begin to lose it. If it becomes clear it's a losing battle however, I will just shave it all off. Ironically, at the moment I have almost no hair (buzzed it almost all off) by choice.
I happen to find a receding hairline on a man attractive. Yet many men seem so obsessed about losing their hair. I also find lack of confidence unattractive and have met men who were self conscious about their thinning hair and that was a turn-off to me. It's just hair- it's superficial and has zero importance to me.
What is up with you guys and hair? What does it mean to you? And how do you women feel about it?
I think men who are bald should accept it. Wigs and toupees are stupid. Hair replacement is a sign of insecurity.
My husband is bald...he's 18 years older than myself...he's got a bargain.
I worry about it because I have a full head of hair, but my grandfathers were VERY bald, and on both sides... the one lost his hair before he was even 18 though, and I am past that (23) with no real signs of loss yet... my brother is 30 and he has slight signs of thinning, but nothing major yet. if my hair started dropping out tomorrow, I could probably get used to it but I would not like it, that's for sure.
Hair's no issue with me just as long as they keep it clean and short.
My parents used to say that - in the 60s!
