Let me apologize in advance if I'm unable to explain this well. I'm at work now and can't take pictures.
In our bathroom we have a typical slide out drawer with the metal rails that attach to them.
At the very back of the inside of the place where the drawer goes into there is a plastic piece that the metal rails rests on. Over the years the plastic pieces have broken 4-5 times at least. I know it's because my wife keeps heavy items in the drawer. I can't get her to stop unfortunately. So, are there other options? I'm wondering if they make this piece in metal. That would definitely last longer. Any other ideas?

Maybe it would be possible to have a local machinist make a pair of those pieces for you if you can't find them premade in metal? The cost might be worth it.

Thanks. I may look into that.
I also thought about just a simple L-bracket mounted in its place just to hold the weight up. If the bottom piece of the "L" is long enough, it can't slip off either.

Anyway, I appreciate the suggestion.
Make the bottom of the L long, and add a low raised edge on the inside of the bracket, and there's no way the support rail could slip off. That would work for sure!
you could also go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy heavier duty new drawer gluides
Unfortunately most of the door glides and brackets sold these days (both at the big box stores, and at cabinet supply places) are cheap plastic crap. Especially the rear bracket supports, for some reason.
A good cabinet supply or woodworkers supply store should have some good quality heavy duty guides. They are out there and you shouldn't need to look to hard. If you want to DM me, I can give you some suggestions. Not going to put advertising out here.
