That temple is not in the middle of a cornfield exactly. It's in Pearland in a small neighborhood. Of course, it might have been in the middle of a cornfield in 1982 when it was built, but it is not now. The community is actually quite large and thriving too. Also, I don't know when those pictures were taken, but the Temple had damage from Ike although I think it has been mostly fixed. There are apartments behind and on the side of the Temple where people live. There are some schools not too far away. It is a beautiful building.

^^^ It was a figure of speech.
The temple is pretty much in the boonies. Yes, there is a small apartment complex nearby, but look at the map... https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Sri+M...ed=0CAoQ_AUoAg and you will know what I meant.

I have been there. It is NOT in the boonies. I am not a desi, but my dil is. While it has some space around it, it's in town.

I was over there today. It is two blocks from Pearland Jr. High South (Bailey Road and McClean Road).
It is not far from Several subdivisions (Springfield and Cabot Cove). There are lots of small homes across McClean looking east. There is an assisted living home a block north of it. There are business to the south and Magnolia Road (recently constructed to go from west to east in Pearland all the way from 288 to Pearland Parkway) is a block further north. Lots of subdivisions homes and schools on Magnolia.

Also right now there is a ton of construction going on.
