Oh, right. My bad, this was supposed to go in Madison. OK, so Madison isn't a major city or resort like the other places on that list.

And now I have to point out that Madison is the Huntsville metro area, and you can point out that Birmingham's metro area is still much larger. Is that where this is supposed to go? Yeah, I guess I should have posted the statistics that make Huntsville the best city and not pointed out that our population has grown so much because we are.

One is coming to Gulf Shores now.I think Madison may eventually get one. The one proposed for GS seem to have more momentum as the theme of Margaritaville aligns with GS more so than Madison but I think Madison will definitely get
one. And it will be a huge draw for sure.

As pointed out by OldBankHead, you will notice that these are all tourist destinations. The thing about Margarittaville is they have to be located in areas that are very busy which are typically tourist areas. I don't know how many of you have ever been to a Margarittaville restaurant but I have been to several in different tourist destinations. Their food is just okay, nothing special with your typical carefully selected menu items to make them quick and easier to prepare with the shortest list of various ingredients possible. It is the corporate restaurant at work to maximize profits.....not dazzle the patrons. Also, the quality has decreased over the past 10 years. I don't waste my time or money with them anymore. The hotels are nothing special other than they are decorated to give a tropical island/beach theme and vibe.

I just had to quote your post and say it gave me a good chuckle. We are just a bunch of sponges up here living off the government and it is all going to fall apart one day. lol

Holy smokes, you’re right! But what's that got to do with this topic?

If Alabama was to get a Margaritaville, then it should be/should have been here.

Well, that remains to be seen I suppose. But my point is, a big list of resort and casino locations doesn't mean they would obviously go to the Greater Madison Metropolitan Area.

I vote we just let this Margarittaville thing die and go away. There isn't one going to be one built in Town Madison ever. There never was going to be one built in Town Madison. It was just a bunch of talk and PR to try to hype Town Madison. It is done, over with and should be forgotten. lol

That's right. Even if they decided to build the hotel now, I don't think there's room to build it. It was supposed to be overlooking the ball park, but as it is now, it would have to be in the parking lot of the stadium. I don't think it was ever a real thing and not necessarily desirable. Besides, there are 3 hotels under construction now (2 in that immediate area), along with the 5 or so recently built.

I really never thought Town Madison would be built at all, and especially at the same time as Mid City, but it's certainly going forward and Mid City is like a decent sized city all by itself.

There actually still is land adjacent to the stadium, separate from the parking lot. If you are standing on TM Blvd. across the street from the stadium, you will see the paved parking lot to the left and a gravel lot which is directly behind the outfield of the stadium. The gravel lot is where some hotel will probably be built eventually.

If you look on the Madison County Tax Assessor's map, you will see that the gravel lot is owned by Old Town Investments (Breland), whereas the paved lot and Toyota Field are owned by the City of Madison. Therefore, Breland is motivated to sell that valuable property to get more return on his investment. A hotel is probably the highest use that could go on that space - It's too small for retail, because, once a stare is built, there isn't enough parking lot space which is required by City ordinances.
