Nope... and I'm the only regular Jewish poster (a few others pop in occasionally), so I think this thread is kinda pointless. Or did you have a point to make?
Funny thing is, I actually offered to get a Christmas tree (fake, since I'm allergic to pine) for the house - but my two NON-Jewish roommates declined, since they hate Christmas. I thought "how can somebody hate a holiday?" but apparently some do.
I can understand why it bothers people of other religions but they should also realize that Christmas is not founded in christian history, its a pagan celebration made over to attract pagans to join the early Catholic church.
I was happy to hear from my daughter that in her public school they teach about other religions celebrations such as Hannakuh. I think they should all be mentioned and given equal time. Being familiar with other peoples way of life can only make our children more sensitive adults.
Well, if they do, it's for the same reason that I do. I HATE the phony Christmas spirit that everyone seems to think a person should have. I hate the pressure to give gifts, send cards, be merry, blah, blah, blah.
I hate the push by charities to collect more money because this is supposed to be the Season of Giving, whatever that means.
This may be the year that I throw up when one person too many asks if I have finished my Christmas shopping.
I hate the pretense that this is a religious holiday. It hasn't been for the general public for many, many years. If I were Jewish, it would bother me a great deal because of the turmoil that it causes in my daily life as others "celebrate." But if I were Jewish, I wouldn't hate it because of what it is SUPPOSED to be. Just what it has become.
I'm Jewish and I hate Christmas because the music is SO bad. I can't go out in public from November 1st to halfway through January without listening to some corny Christmas song! Jewish music is seriously enough of a reason to convert to Judaism IMO. :P
Oh, goodness!!! I had forgotten the Christmas music. It starts before Thanksgiving. And it's the same old same old. I am sooooooooooooo tired of White Christmas. I must have heard it a zillion times since I first heard Bing Crosby sing it. I thought it was pretty once.
And Jingle Bell Rock! Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Rudolf the Red Nose Raindeer, I Saw Mama Kissing Santa Claus.
