I am a true crime fan interested in a murder that occurred on Robin Road in the 1970s. I have been trying to find out as much information as I can about this and will need to check the local archives/microfiches of old newspapers I just need to figure out the time frame so that I can narrow my search. Does anyone have any knowledge of this murder and the facts surrounding it?

I did a quick Google search and it looked like it might have happened in 1979. The site with the info is infected with a virus, so I didn't look much more into it.

I have no clue. I have been curious about the Death of Patricia Boydston of Cleveland MO because of some writing I found in an abandon building a few years ago. It took a lot of research to find out about her and I still have not found much. Other then she was found dead in belton and a man was arrested. But the writing said *Removed Name* killed Patty Boydston not *Name Removed*.... Needless to say its impossible for me to forget. But with things so long ago its hard to know. Have you gone to county office to do a records search?

I don't have any information for you. But calling yourself a "crime fan" struck me as a little bit ... um ... creepy? for lack of a better word.

If I were you I would be careful in your research of any such violent crime. There are likely still family members in the area who would not appreciate their loss being your "hobby". Not to suggest that you wouldn't, but just tread with sensitivity, please.

My SO, who posts here, actually posted this thread, not noticing that he was logged in under my username and not his. I didn't figure it was a big enough deal to delete and repost. But at any rate, the wording's not mine, though the topic is also of interest to me and I sanctioned the posting.

It's really more just curiosity about our new neighborhood, and as a former journalist in a smaller community like Lee's Summit, the reportage of such things (or lack thereof) is of special interest to me. I'm not knocking myself out to research anything, but communities' response to violent crime has always been a point of interest. My own small hometown community was rocked by an unsolved disappearance of a peer of mine during my teenage years that has since gone cold, as cases go, and the effect on smaller communities is of special interest to me from a journalism perspective.

If it creeps people out, I can delete, it's really not a big issue to me one way or the other.

I personally find crime in general of interest. From the social impact all the way to the criminal justice process. I am assuming since there are multiple channels dedicated to the topic is a fairly common interest. I had a cousin shot on a street corner this summer the police questioned one man and that was it. No people of interest. Not considered a cold case yet but I doubt anyone out side of the family thinks about it. People's curiosity in crime has been a vital asset to solving crime. I took nothing negative from your husbands words. Some of us are real careful others just say what they mean with no ill will intended. But I would be curious to know what if anything you find out. There are certain things to stay sensitive about such as names and address's but sadly crime is a part of life however unpleasant....

Agreed, and I'm not suggesting the post or the topic is inappropriate. Just that we take care to remain sensitive about it.

My mom told me about the murder of her friend Patty. She was close friends with her at the time or her murder and my mom also knew Charles Locke. From what I remember my mom telling me long ago she discovered the body of Patricia down by the creek. Are you still looking for information about the murder?

I was interested in the same information that may be available today on this murder. I was a young man when this happened. I believe it to be in the 1972-1974 time frame. If memory is correct she (victim) was a school teacher who was divorced or going through a divorce and her husband wired explosives to her ignition of the car. I lived approx 1 1/2 miles from the crime seen. I am looking for info on this same crime. Hope my info helps in your investigation.

I don't know if you are still looking for information on Patricia Boydston but if you are: there was a murder of Patricia Boydston in June of 1976 in Belton, Missouri, she was 15 and Charles Locke was 19.
