We're excited to try Chuy's but as Beretta said were going to wait til the hype dies down some.

In the meantime, next month were planning to go to Ephesus Mediterranean Grill.

Has anyone here tried it? We discovered it on the way to Sunspot on Friday night.

I know this is the greater Knoxville restaurant thread but I have to share the experience we had yesterday.

After Church we decided to take a drive and take I-40 east into Cocke County and exit to take Rt. 321 into Gatlinburg; basically the back way.

We were hungry so we were looking for a small place to have lunch; hoping to find a hidden gem around that had home cookin'.

We drove right past this place called Carver's. We had heard of it before, so we made a u-turn and went back. Probably one of the best decisions ever!

We walked past the farmer style market first, to go into the restaurant, knowing full well we would buying someting to take home!

The lunch special comes with apple cider and fresh apple fritters with homemade apple butter. All I can say is that the fritters and apple butter practically melts in your mouth. I probably would have been happy just having that!

I had the chicken and dumplings, with mashed potatoes and fried apples. My hubby had the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and fried apples. When the food came and I took my first bite, I thought for sure my great grandma was still alive and working in that kitchen!

Service was exceptional; we were treated by the staff like we were long time friends, and the place was packed. We didn't wait long for our food either, which was nice as we were starving after smelling all the great food being brought out. The people next to us had the chicken pot pie and I told my husband I must come back and try that little gem!

After lunch, we had to go buy apples, peaches and of course, apple butter. Like I said, I swear my great-grandma was around because their apple butter tastes just like hers! They have a small candy store there as well, which we had to go buy some "penny" candy at for the drive home.

It's a drive for those living in Knoxville I'm sure, but if you want some beautiful scenery, home cooked food and amazing produce, it's worth the afternoon visit. We will definetly be going back! I highly recommend Carver's!

I can't think of any place I would wait more then 5-10 minutes for a table. In fact, I don't.

Default Border Taco

Border Taco just off Cambell Station exit (next to Dunkin Donuts) is surprisingly good! Had a taco salad for lunch the other day - it works like Moe's where you go down the line and pick your ingredients. The prices can't be beat!

Litton's tonight. It was great as usual. My date had the grilled shrimp platter and he said it was outstanding. He also had onion rings and they were so good. I had the always fantastic hamburger and fries. We both had half sweet and half unsweetened iced tea and it was some of the best ever. We got desserts to go. Our waitress was fabulous. Litton's is always a strong bet.

I like Chop House!

Here is little known fact regarding scallops at Litton's. He brings them in from Foley's of Boston, best seafood purveyor on the docks. They are extremely fresh. Just excellent, excellent scallops; the best. I often will go down there and buy them to cook at home. Expensive but actually not overpriced.

Never had a bad experience at Carvers or Littons. Best restaurant dessert out there is the chocolate chess pie @ Littons. Although Apple Barn has the atmosphere, Carvers is the real deal.

I like the idea of Littons more then I like Littons. I've only had the burger there (twice) and found it to be, perhaps, the most over rated burger I've eaten in my lifetime.

I do eat at Chop House from time to time primarily because they often have a prime ribeye (pardon me..Delmonico - no idea why they call it that considering the confusion surrounding the name) on the menu for around $39 - a deal considering it comes with a salad and a side.
