If you are in town on Monday (May2) stop by the Tennessee Theatre at noon for a free organ concert.

Also you could check out the WDVK Blue Plate Special at the Tourist Center. This is at noon every Monday thru Saturday and is also free.

Thank you! I appreciate the info. Did anything go in the space that they vacated? I love walking around that part of town!

Art museum is always free. It's tiny but very nice.

The East Tennessee Historical Society museum is free on Sundays. Once again, small but very good. They just had a Lincoln exhibit.

It's also free to people watch at Market Square. If you have a dog take him down there to socialize!

Watch the local papers because there is frequently free things to do that are announced.

For hiking: Ijams Nature center - be sure to go down the road and catch Mead's quarry and the new Ross Quarry trail. The River bluff natural area - park across from the water tower on Cherokee trail. Then there's the UT trial garden on Neyland drive.

Default I can't wait to get to Knoxville!

I get on here a few times a day and read through the goings on in Knoxville. The next year and a half can't go by fast enough. There is nothing like that here, and its dark by 4. I have come to the conclusion God hates Schenectady Ny. No one says ya'll, thank you, or your welcome. I am going to get my southern fix this late winter early spring. See ya'll then folks. Have a great day!

Smile Must-see/do spring things in Knoxville

I am going to be visiting the Knoxville area during late March and early April. I would love to get some ideas for inexpensive things to do during the time there - particularly during the day time.

Interests include ethnic cuisines, books, thift shops (particularly books, videos, computers, and clothes for a 2 yr old grandchild), music, photography. I have a GPS and a relative who lives in the area, so I should be able to get around okay.

What do you consider must see's or must dos? I am less interested in touristy over priced entertainment than I am in what Knoxville-ians like.
