I wonder how seriously any employer takes any degree from any college. High level tech jobs may now require several interviews and several skills tests.

For entry level, they definitely do. They need to screen out candidates, and anyone with a degree always has an advantage over someone without, at least for white collar career track jobs. And better schools have an advantage over worse ranked schools. For profit on line schools seem to have a reputation as being diploma mills that don't deliver nearly as good and education as established B&M colleges. So I wonder how hiring managers and HR people view applicants with degrees from the on-line schools.

CompSci major here. It is definitely possible to find entry level IT jobs in the tourism industry. I’ve never personally looked in Vegas but it’s supposively a decent scene there .

In all honesty, I find that CompSci is akin to accounting in that we pretty much find work everywhere.

It's not just find a job, but finding a job that will build a career.

1. That’s not what OP asked

2. Even if that is what OP asked, I see no evidence that you can’t build a career in Las Vegas that falls in CS. Are you trying to get that Vegas isn’t the Silicon Valley? I’m sure OP knows that. If OP wanted an SV job, they wouldn’t be looking into Vegas to begin with. Vegas does have the entire tourism industry… and companies that support them… and hospitals, and schools, and airports and …. It’s not SV, but there’s definitely well paying employment for a CS major.

3. Even if you can’t build a decent career in Vegas (which I don’t believe is the case), getting experience in Vegas would help build out a resume. It’s much harder to get a “FAANG job” in the Silicon Valley than it is to find a job in IT elsewhere.

As someone who has been in a brick-and-mortar university and then graduated from an online college (proud graduate of WGU), I had no trouble getting the support from my employer which is one of the biggest companies in the country in the hospitality and tourism industry. As long as the university is accredited, that's all that matters.

Depends on the university. Online universities are pushing to become more innovative. Brick-and-mortar university are getting more and more expensive. Online universities are more affordable. I would defend the idea that online schools are getting better. The idea that online schools are bad compared to B&M colleges, with all due respect, is absurd.
