I left Pahrump in 2013 because of the lack of employment. I'm retiring in 2024 and considering moving back there from TN.
Has much changed there good or bad in the past 10 years? Any more businesses?
Thank you

This would be a good question to put in the Nye County thread.

https://www.city-data.com/forum/neva...ye-county.html

Highlights.

Yes, a few new businesses. A pot shop, an Arbys going up, more gas stations.

Lots of new housing. Becoming more of a LV bedroom community.

160 is now 4 lanes from near Manse all the way into LV, makes for a quicker drive.

I'm curious too. OP, what part of TN are you living? What factors are making you leave TN to Pahrump?

Default The nightmare called Pahrump

Pahrump Nightmares:
Feb. 22, 2024

Born TX lived one year, 3+ years late 90's and 2022, Lived Las Vegas 35+ years, Reno area 15+ years. Hunted in Pahrump. owned Farm in Overton. So I have vast knowledge of entire area.

Moved to Pahrump Nov. 2022, did my research but I failed in my research. Since I have lived here I have acquired this information. Construction whether it be for Manufactured home or what they call stick build home is very bad (personal experience) after talking with multiple home owners. If you are buying a manufactured home your are a "side job" (words directly from construction co. owner) and it will not be complete when sales person told you it would be complete this can be months to a year or more. Manufactured homes are very poorly built, personal experience and from talking with friends and neighbors who live in Pahrump for many years. This will take you months to years to get repairs and/or code violations done if they are done at all. Pahrump is built on a dry lake bed and homes will most likely sink at some point. If you have a concrete foundation this is more likely to be a major issue. Check with local state consumer websites for reviews. Please do your own extensive research to save you the nightmare of moving here. If your going to rent good luck.

If this does not get rejected I will try to post more comments about life and/or general living in Pahrump upon request from bloggers.

It wasn't COPS, it was LivePD. And yes, I've seen a lot of episodes involving the Nye County Sheriff's office in Pahrump.

To me, Pahrump is a less-developed version of Kingman, AZ with casinos.

Mesquite, NV should be on OP's radar.

It's cleaner, safer, more organized and patrolled by Metro and NHP. You also have the benefit of being able to get on I-15 and go to either St. George or Las Vegas for most things.

Pahrump sort of feels like your just stranded out in the middle of nowhere.

My major concern with Mesquite is it is still in Clark County. I had my fill of Clark County in the 90's and I really don't think things have changed much except it is even more developed, esp around Las Vegas. If I were going for smaller and more rural and was willing to live in Clark County I would have been in Overton a long time ago.

As far as getting somewhere, from Pahrump you hop on the new, improved version of Highway 160 and you are nearly anywhere in Las Vegas you want to be in 60 minute or less. Just about the same as Mesquite.

Mesquite does have more to offer than Pahrump in the way of restaurants and shopping though.

If you want to see current happenings with the Nye County Sheriff's Office you can catch them on the First Responders US Cops channel on You Tube.

Yes, I stand corrected.
