I wish the prices weren't so high, not just here on the Strip, but everywhere. I used to eat out at great restaurants on a regular basis when I lived in Chicago. I travelled a lot and ate at great restaurants all over the US, France, Italy, Canada, and Mexico. I'm glad I did it when prices weren't so high, but now I have a well trained palate and don't want to pay the prices to eat and drink so high on the hog. I can cook almost as well as all but the best chefs and have enough vintage wine to last me for many years. It's a lot cheaper to eat at home. I don't mind the work to prep and cook, but hate cleaning up the kitchen, lol.

The Bacchanal buffet is very expensive imo and something you don't do every day.

When you're on vacation, especially around the Vegas strip, you gotta be willing to lay down some bucks, or just stay home.

Chicago, I'd always been told and back in the day, say 25 or 30 years ago, experienced fine dining there for very cheap. Not the case anymore?

I ate at Charlie Trotters a few times and Alinea once. Not what I'd call "affordable" when adjusting for inflation. $200-$300 per person including very good wine was well worth it to me back then. I haven't been back for many years, but my sister still lives there. She says it's expensive to eat out everywhere.

I don't drink alcohol nor do drugs, so, food and good coffee is pretty important to me.

Booze looks insane ripoff. Feel sorry for you folks. But food, an art I need much help with.

I'm learning to make a pretty mean brisket.

I think Bacchanal is overpriced. Admittedly the only time I've gone to a buffet in the last 5 to 10 years was when my son and son-in-law joined us (I've never seen a couple of guys eat as much as those two do). It actually makes me sick to watch people gorge like that. With that said, I think the Wicked Spoon in Cosmopolitan is superior to Bacchanal and I recall it being $10-$11 less.

For those looking for an incredible meal at a reasonable price, I would suggest Carbone at Aria. The food (Italian) is outstanding and it's family style which really keeps the cost down.
