I've heard that it is old, depressed and crime-ridden with a downtown that is blighted. I've also heard that it has beautiful old architecture and churches with a significant Moravian influenced community. Has it maintained the vibe of those old eastern European immigrant communities that used to dot the northeast before everyone moved out to suburbia? How would you describe it?

When people say old and crime-ridden you never know if they are honestly reporting things, or just expressing their bias against architecture that doesn't include a four car garage spanning the entire front part of the house.

Which is better, north of the Lehigh or south of it? Are the old neighborhoods downtown safe to live in or is the housing stock there shabby, poorly kept, and filled with rough poverty class people?

And if you have the ability, perhaps some time could you do a photo tour the way SWB has done for NEPA?

The downtown is quite nice. Otherwise it is a mixed bag.

What's the neighborhood like near the Crayola factory tour? Is parking a problem if we'd bring our kids there sometime?

Wherever the one is that gives tours. I think it's downtown but I'm not sure.

ok the one in center city... has horrible parking... but i think there is a garage right near by. the center city factory is more like a playground for kids... they have tons of activities..

and now that i think about it... i dont think the crayola factory gives out general public tours anymore... i think thats why they built the crayola factory in center city....

Well, so much for "I know everything".....

I've been to the Crayola factory tour twice. It's great fun and parking is located nearby. The one you want is in downtown Easton: The Crayola® FACTORY® :: Plan your experience! It's in the touristy section of Easton and you will feel quite safe walking around and visiting little shops and restaurants.

We go to Crayola all the time. The parking garage is safe...shared with the police department. Lots of people walking around like in a larger city. Only felt a little unsure one time. Homeless looking women peddling candy bars. I declined and they didn't harass. I go alone with three small children.
