Someone told me this isn't uncommon.

But I was shocked.

The L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy-Gang Crisis
Whistle-blowers say that a group called the Banditos functions as a shadow government within local law enforcement. The sheriff says there is no such gang in his department

She was naïve at first, she said. But a detective told her, “Just pay attention. You’ll find out who’s really in charge.” Officially, stations are run by captains, with the help of an operations staff. At East L.A., Gonzalez discovered, there was a shadow government: a secretive group of sheriff’s deputies known as the Banditos.

Goes back 40-50 years, both on the streets and in the jails. The admins couldn't control them even when consolidating lynwood and firestone stations.

Just for clarification - its not infiltration from from street gangs.

I'm so sorry that I voted for Villanueva. He's a disaster.

Thank goodness; let's hope Luna's lead holds.

In the race for Los Angeles County sheriff, retired Long Beach Police Chief Robert Luna has a formidable, 10-point lead among likely voters over the incumbent, Alex Villanueva, a new poll shows.

Yeah, that must be the reason people who actually live in L.A. may not like him.

His latest: ordering a raid on County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl’s home because she was a long time critic of his.
