The road is not racist, the policies that put it into place were. The fact that freeways built through black neighborhoods displaced residents, cut them off from essential services and yes, contributed to excess pollution (because in most black neighborhoods freeways are built right next to housing) has been scientifically proven many times over. It's not a matter of opinion.

See, those cars driven by people of color don't pollute their neighborhoods when they use the freeways, just the "white" cars.
Your snark aside, there are far fewer people of color in L.A. (and, indeed, the rest of the country) than whites, so yes, routing freeways through black neighborhoods exposes their residents to additional pollution from predominantly white-driven cars. It's simple mathematics.

None of this is the goal of "Democrats", but it is the goal of the far leftist radicals who those Democrats end up beholden to in a place like Los Angeles.

Yeah. When the police are short-staffed and police quit and/or can't be recruited because of pay and safety issues, and the general populace blames it on each other instead of surrendering to the fact that we need more police, fewer relaxed laws and a whole lot more... that belongs in another forum that I don't frequent.

The ideology I mentioned is DIRECTLY impacting crime and the quality of life in cities like Los Angeles. You can’t have a decent, honest conversation about crime without mentioning policies (and the ideology driving them) implemented by politicians.

Non-hispanic whites are 25% of L.A. county's population. 48% are Hispanic, 15% Asian, 8% black. So no there are not far fewer people of color in L.A. than whites. Whites are in fact a minority.

Very good, you've mastered the art of Wiki-ing demos. Now do just the neighborhoods the freeways in question bisect and (this will be harder, but I'm sure a web sleuth such as yourself can do it) the demos of the people driving the routes in question. And then, just for funsies, roll back a few decades to when the freeways were actually built.

Moreover, even if we stipulate you're right as it pertains specifically to L.A., the process by which the freeways were routed was basically the same throughout the country. If by some chance the inherently racist policies got something "right" in L.A. (they didn't), it doesn't make them any less racist.

Crime has absolutely gone up. Politicians lie with statistics when they summarily claim that it's down or the same. People have given up on reporting crimes. We see with our own eyes that crime is way up. That's what happens when you defund the police, allow homeless everywhere, and welcome illegal immigration.

Correct, and I would love to but politics is not allowed in this forum. As I said, I like many here, do not frequent or even dip my toe over there. Pointless in my experience.

Greed and indifference are two main reasons why things have vastly deteriorated which is a human failing that is occurring on both sides of the political spectrum. Politics is blamed when actually "they" are all complicit. And it isn't going to improve anytime soon, if ever.

You said that "there are far fewer people of color in L.A. than whites"

Now you are backtracking because the data doesn't support your conclusions.

What the?? Everyone knows that whites are in the minority now in CA, especially the L.A. area. That escalated in the late 80's and the 90's. Nothing wrong with it, just pointing out the error.

Shhhh. We don’t want to call attention to this as it may lead to a call for more police. Rest assured, there are folks in this thread who are ready to tell us all about how the police are a racist force of oppression. So, we can’t allow any talk which might disrupt the police abolition movement.
