Norwell is a good option based on the schools, but there are a few downsides. Norwell has the highest property taxes of all towns mentioned, and most houses are located on fairly large, isolated lots or in culdesac communities, which themselves are fairly isolated. Norwell does not have the commuter rail, and your best option for getting into Boston is driving on nightmarish Route 3. Norwell is a great option if you prioritize privacy, living in the woods, a bigger house for the money, highly-rated schools, and quick access to Route 3/shopping.

As a former Hinghamite, I'll also say that the most desirable and walkable parts of town are far from Route 3. It takes about five minutes longer from my house in North Cohasset to access Route 3 than when I was in Hingham.

You can't go wrong with any of the towns, especially considering they are convenient to your work. Good luck on the house hunt!

Edit: I read through more of what the OP is looking for, and I think Norwell would be a great fit.
Thanks appreciate the help! I was originally thinking Norwell as well since we don't necessarily care about being close to the water.

At the end of the day, this is absolutely correct. Hingham, Cohasset, Duxbury, Norwell, and Scituate are all great towns in their own rights. I'd be fine living in any of them.

Many of these towns have developed quite a bit over the past ten to twenty years.

The schools aren't really an issue. Employers and academia could not care less about where you go because the MCAS pretty much is the qualification. You don't get any *extra* for more school funding, especially with the lower enrollments these days.

The area did well since you have the commuter rail access but post covid pretty much more of those jobs are now telecommutted. The malls have largely closed or consolidated (Harborlight, Kingston, Hanover etc)

I think food access has increased but it depends.

Cohasset and Scituate are isolated, Duxbury doesn't have a real downtown but they'll go to the McDonalds at Kingsbury crossing along with the job lot. Flood insurance is going to increase and frankly much of the coastal areas might not really be there

I grew up on the south shore and will pm you with some more.
