You can't extended camp, but if you are 'fishing' with poles out its not camping now is it.

Who enforces it the police or parks department? Someone mentioned that as long as a vehicle is moved once every 24hrs, they can park as long as they like.

Hi, apparently everyone has a different opinion on the so desired topic 'Camping in Maui'.

The truth is, everything is possible as long as one is willing to do what one needs to do to succeed. Someone once said and I forgot who it was, "everything is impossible until someone does it".

There are places in Maui where you can camp without any fees. The problem is, not everyone knows where and people would often keep that info to themselves so that these places and beaches remain virgin. But let's be honest, there are not so many virgin places in the world nowadays.

I have a friend who camped for 8 consecutive months in the same beach in Maui. As soon as the sun raised, she would pack up the tent and start her day. However, this doesn't mean that the same situation would apply to everyone. Use your intuition. What do your senses tell you? Ask around and don't be too obvious about trying to illegally camp.

As long as you have a car to move around, you could definitely manage living off your car and camping around the island.

The real question is, are you ready to prevail and be strong enough to live that life? It's not a walk in the park but it is definitely an awesome adventure.

I will be heading to Maui next February and probably will camp for a while, in the meantime I find a place.

No biggie. Been there, done that.

If you are fishing then the government turns a blind eye because of Hawaiian culture. It's what we love to do. All you need to do is put some fishing poles up.
