Speaking as a gay person, here is what I have to say about this. Black people can suck it. They always voted against our rights in the past. 70% of blacks voted for prop 8, for example. They can face the conservative pundits on their own. I'm done with the black community and their rampant homophobia.
African Americans do need to move on and so do all the SJW Liberals that keep dragging us all backwards by bringing up the nonsense of reparations.
I hate to break it to you folks that are hoping for a windfall, the Dems are only talking about this to pander to you and to get your vote.
Reparations are like the Civil War statues that were taken down.
Instead of looking back in history as a perpetually oppressed victim why can't people look ahead and proudly state
"Look how far we have come".
I thought there were lessons to be taught at the base of a Confederate Generals statue but there are some people that you just can't help and no amount of money from reparations will help that.
I view removing statues of traitors from the civil war as a step of moving on.
Closing the loop that started during the civil rights movement. Let's stop pretending this is about slavery that ended in 1865. This is also about the racist practices that didn't really end until the mid 20th century (Jim Crow, redlining, etc.). We're not even a full generation removed from that stuff...
I don't think reparations are the correct move, but if that's what the people wanted, I'd go along with it. After all, have we ever really "made it right" as a country? Just giving them their freedom wasn't making it right - that was the bare minimum.
So when the parents and grandparents got into a fist fight with someone we need to figure out what payment is do the offspring. That black eye may have been worth 10 bucks at the time but now it should be worth 1,000 bucks adjusting for inflation.
That may actually be the stupidest thing ever proposed.
The bill to be presented asks for education services, not cash.
So all is well now? Everyone in America has equal opportunities of not only jobs, but education and freedom of movement and choice - without oppression or bias against us!
Those falsely accused, jailed, and murdered for no crime other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time can rest easy, knowing that the further disaster their descendants had to suffer for decades can kick back now and just say fogetaboutit! No real harm done, my kids and their kids will just get over it.
We can all inherit and utilize the wealth that our forefathers generated so that all our children and their children can lead productive lives; we all share the economic advantages of valuable land, gold, homes and other chattel and wealth passed down to us. Great. Hallelujah. Good times for all.

It matters not in the least what is ask for. Its tribalism. Are we going to support Tribalism ?
